Sheppard passes motorcycle test

Jack Sheppard's preparations for the 2012 season continue to make good progress with the red headed teenager from Suffolk having recently completed and passed the final part of his motorcycle test. With the kind support and assistance of the Academy of Motorcycling based in Stowmarket, the 2011 FIM Youth Trial World Champion passed modules one and two with only a couple of minor faults.

The Academy of Motorcycling, which was established nearly a decade ago, now boasts six highly qualified and experienced instructors and a fleet of no less than twenty-two bikes not to mention one of the best training facilities in the region. Two new sites, one in Ipswich and one in Bury St Edmunds, will open in the spring of this year alongside the existing branch in Stowmarket to increase the capacity and outreach of the business.

Jack was fortunate enough to be under the personal supervision of Chief Instructor Dave Bowen. DSA registered as a Post Test Trainer and a holder of a RoSPA Diploma in Advanced Motorcycle Instruction, Dave is also a RoSPA Gold Standard Rider as well as being a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists (Motorcycle section). Over his thirty-two years of two-wheel service Dave has helped hundreds of riders pass their bike test, Jack included, and has covered over one hundred and thirty thousand miles in doing so.

Commenting on Jack's latest achievement Dave stated: "Obviously Jack's bike control was never in doubt, as he has exceptional skill in terms of his balance and co-ordination, but it was down to us to teach him the rest. He was a great pupil and certainly listened and learned quickly. We would like to congratulate him on passing his test and to wish him well with his recovery and the season ahead."

Jack had this to say about passing his test: "I am glad that it is out of the way, as it would have been quite embarrassing if I had failed. The Academy of Motorcycling and in particular Dave were fantastic with me, and I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who is looking to pass their bike test, as they are first class. With that done I can now focus on my training and getting back on a trials bike as soon as possible."
